Brandon describes the company as boutique, with jobs that have run from schools to grain elevators to screen doors. Most of it falls into four kinds of work.

Room additions, decks and renovations. The company started out renovating and expanding fraternity and sorority houses near the KU campus.

Universal-design details such as zero-entry showers and electrical outlets on stairs, so a house works for a young family and for retirees aging in place.

Tenant finishes, remodels and additions for businesses and schools, including a library, offices, toddler rooms and two outdoor exploration areas at Raintree Montessori School.

Built on referrals
Dahl Construction started in Lawrence in 1994. Brandon Dahl's early jobs were renovating, updating and expanding fraternity and sorority houses near campus, including the Chi Omega house beside the Chi O Fountain. Alumni of those houses hired him for more work, and the business grew from there by word of mouth: commercial, residential and remodeling.
Clients have included KU professors and professionals who moved to the area from overseas. By 2013 the company had built homes for people from ten different countries.
Dahl Construction is run by Brandon and Cathy Dahl and is a member of the Lawrence Home Builders Association.
